The Unimaginable Vastness of Heaven
Heaven in Islam is a place of unimaginable happiness and comfort. In Heaven, known as AlJannah, believers experience wonders beyond human comprehension. The homes in Heaven are very far apart, like the distance between the earth and a shining star in the sky. The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon Him, said that the people in Heaven will see those in higher places, just like we see a bright star far away in the sky.
Imagine waking up early for AlFajr prayer and seeing a distant but bright star in the clear sky. In Heaven, people will see the homes of the righteous, martyrs, and prophets shining from far away. They will ask, “What is that bright thing in the distance?” and the answer will be, “That is the palace of someone like Umar”. The distance between you and that palace is as far as between the earth and that shining star, which is millions of light years in today’s language. It’s truly amazing.
Living Inside a Pearl: Wonders Beyond Comprehension
The Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon Him, describes a small picture of Heaven, but even this small picture is incredibly vast. Some good people in Heaven will live inside a pearl. Imagine living inside a seashell. The pearl is small, like a pigeon’s egg, but it’s hollow inside for living. You won’t be tiny like an ant, but the pearl will be very big. You’ll be as tall as Adam, about 60 arm lengths, and you’ll go inside that pearl.
The Prophet, peace be upon Him, says in another true and amazing saying that this pearl has four corners. In each corner, the person has family members, including beautiful companions. The Prophet says that people in one corner can not see those in another corner because the distance is so great. You’d have to walk for miles to get from one corner to another. And this is just one pearl, the size of a seashell or pigeon egg in our world, but in Heaven, it’s incredibly big.
If a pearl in Heaven is this big, imagine how big the gardens must be! Our minds can not even picture it. That’s why the Prophet, peace be upon Him, said that in Heaven there are things no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human mind has imagined. It’s a place of great abundance, where you can eat freely whatever you want, as mentioned in the Quran.
