Day of Judgment and Accountability

The Four Questions of Judgment Day: Are You Ready to Answer?

The Inescapable Questions on Judgment Day

Questions on Judgment Day are critical for every believer to understand. On that day, a person won’t be able to move from their place before ALLAH until they answer four questions:

  1. How they spent their life
  2. How they used their body
  3. How they earned and spent their money
  4. What they did with their knowledge

This hadith (saying) of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), makes us think about these four important things we’ll be asked about on Judgment Day. We can’t escape these questions.

Reflecting on Life, Body, Wealth, and Knowledge

The first question is about time – our life. Our existence is just moments between a beginning and an end. How did we use this time? This is one of the key questions on Judgment Day.

The second is about our body. ALLAH gave us our body for a purpose, not for nothing. Did we use it for what it was created for? As we get older, our body wears out. Did we use it for pleasure or for good deeds?

The third is about money, which is important for life and society. How did we earn our money? Did we get it in allowed ways or forbidden ways? Then, how did we spend it? Did we use it for good things or to cause harm and be arrogant? Our handling of wealth is among the critical questions on Judgment Day.

The fourth is about knowledge. Everyone has some knowledge, even if it’s just the basics of religion like the five pillars of Islam and the six pillars of faith. We also know big good deeds and big bad deeds. We’ll be asked what we did with this knowledge. The more knowledge we have, the more we’ll be asked about it.

May ALLAH protect us from a hard reckoning on that day, because whoever is questioned in detail will be punished. We seek refuge in ALLAH from HIS punishment.
