Unveiling the Quran’s Secrets: How Three Surahs Beautifully Connect

Connecting Surahs in the Quran reveals profound insights into the divine message. In the Holy Quran, the connecting Surahs become evident when we examine the placement and content of each chapter. Surah “Al-Qadr” (The Decree) comes after Surah “Al-Alaq” (The Clot) and before Surah “Al-Bayyinah” (The Clear Evidence), showcasing a beautiful sequence.

By examining these Surah connections, Dr. Fadel Saleh Alsamerai noticed that the last verse of Surah “Al-Alaq“, ALLAH says:

(“prostrate and draw near [to ALLAH]1).

Connecting Surahs in the Quran reveals profound insights into the divine message.
Chapter ‘Al-‘Alaq: Verse – 19 – سورة العلق: الآية

Then comes

(“Indeed, We sent it down during the Night of Decree2).

Chapter ‘Al-Qadr: Verse – 1 – سورة القدر: الآية

This night is a night of prostration and drawing near to ALLAH. So, there’s a clear connection between this verse and the last verse of the previous Surah.

Surah “Al-Alaq” starts with

(“Recite in the name of your LORD who created3).

Chapter ‘Al-‘Alaq: Verse – 1 – سورة العلق: الآية

This refers to reading what was sent down on the Night of Decree. It’s as if it’s saying, “Recite what WE sent down on the Night of Decree“. So, Surah “Al-Qadr” is related to the Surah before it in both its beginning and end, illustrating the beautiful Surahs Connections in the Quran.

Clarification in Surah Al-Bayyinah

As for its connection to the Surah after it, Surah “Al-Bayyinah“, in Surah “Al-Qadr” ALLAH says “إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ” (“Indeed, WE sent it down“). Here, “WE” refers to the sender, and “it” refers to what was sent down, but neither is specified clearly.

However, in Surah “Al-Bayyinah“, these pronouns are explained. ALLAH says:

(“A Messenger from ALLAH, reciting purified scriptures*within which are correct writings4).

Chapter ‘Al-Bayyinah: Verses – 3-2 – سورة البينة: الآيات

A Messenger from ALLAH” is who it was sent down to, “from ALLAH” is who sent it. So “WE” in “WE sent it down” is explained as “ALLAH“, and “it” is explained as “purified scriptures within which are correct writings“.

So Surah “Al-Bayyinah” explains the pronouns found in the Surah before it, which is Surah “Al-Qadr“.
