The Blessing of the Quran as a Special Honor
One of the most uplifting verses in the Quran is ALLAH’s statement:
“Then WE caused to inherit the Book those WE have chosen of OUR servants;…“1
(Suraat FaaTir, 35:32)
In this verse, ALLAH highlights a beautiful truth: we are a nation honored and chosen to carry the Quran. This reminder fills us with hope, as it reflects the special position granted to us—a community blessed with ALLAH’s words. With this privilege, we humbly pray that ALLAH keeps us firm in the blessings of the Quran, making us worthy of this divine gift. We also ask that HE never lets us fall into disgrace after bestowing such a remarkable favor upon us.
Talking about the Quran is not a light matter; it stirs deep emotions and brings reflections that words alone often cannot fully express. This message is especially for students—those who may sometimes feel a sense of sadness or regret. Perhaps they feel that, by enrolling them in a Quran memorization school, their parents didn’t give them the same opportunities as their siblings who pursued higher education or professional careers. This feeling can sometimes lead them to feel as though they are of a lower status or rank.
However, those who carry the Quran within them must be careful never to undervalue its true worth. ALLAH HIMSELF has said that within this Quran, HE has placed guidance, mercy, and glad tidings. It is a profound blessing—a source that encompasses all one may need. ALLAH says,
“…And WE have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims“2
(Suraat ‘An-Nahl, 16:89)
Every aspect of ALLAH’s mercy and blessing is contained within the Quran, and ALLAH has granted this to you. You hold this immense treasure in your heart—so, would you still think that others are more fortunate?
Embracing the Blessing of the Quran in Our Lives
No matter the worldly riches or ranks that others might achieve—even if your siblings or peers attain high positions in worldly professions—know that the blessing of the Quran you hold is far greater. Reflect on the story of Qarun, who was granted immense wealth, yet his end reminds us that material success is temporary, while the blessing of the Quran is eternal.
Hold tightly to this blessing, and don’t wait until it is taken from you to recognize its true worth. We seek ALLAH’s refuge from realizing the value of a blessing only after it has gone. Instead, find joy in what you have now, as ALLAH says,
“Say, “In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice;…“3
(Suraat Yunus, 10:58)
The Quran is ALLAH’s mercy and favor, and HE has chosen us to be its people. Rejoice in the honor that ALLAH has granted us, for indeed,
“…it is better than what they accumulate“4
(Suraat Yunus, 10:58)
This is the blessing of the Quran.
This Quran is ALLAH’s gift to us, and we ask HIM to keep us among those who remain dedicated to its guidance.
