Mohamed Elhamy (born November 13, 1983) is a well-known Egyptian historian and writer specializing in Islamic history and civilization. Currently residing in Istanbul, Turkey, Elhamy is an active member of the Arab Academics Association in Turkey and participates in various Islamic and historical conferences. Born in Sohag, Egypt, Mohamed Elhamy originally pursued engineering at Monofeya University, earning his degree in Electronic Engineering. However, his passion for history and Islamic civilization led him to leave his engineering career and pursue a Master’s degree in Islamic Economics in Turkey.
Academic and Political Activity
Elhamy has been active in Egypt’s political and revolutionary movements. He was among the participants in the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, particularly during the protests demanding justice for the martyrs of the revolution. His political alignment with Hazem Salah Abu Ismail, a prominent Islamic presidential candidate, and his critiques of the Egyptian regime following the Rabaa Massacre led him to leave Egypt and relocate to Turkey.
